What Verdict does

When you share an Instagram post or screenshot to Verdict (or paste a link), we send that content to our server, extract the main factual claim, check it against fresh web search, and send you back a ruling with the sources we relied on.

What we collect

  • Account. Your email address and basic profile (name, optional photo), handled by our sign-in provider, Clerk. Used to sign you in and apply fair-use limits.
  • Content you choose to check. The post link or screenshot you share. It is processed to produce your verdict.

We do not collect your browsing history, contacts, location, or anything you don't explicitly share to Verdict. The app contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.

Where your history lives

Your check history is stored on your device, scoped to your account. We do not keep a copy of your personal history on our servers, and other users can never see it.

Caching

Finished verdicts are cached on our servers for 24 hours to 7 days so that popular posts can be answered instantly. Cache entries are keyed by a fingerprint of the post itself (its URL or image), never by your account — a cached verdict contains no information about who requested it.

Fair-use counters

We keep a small monthly counter of checks per account to enforce fair-use limits. It contains only an account identifier and a number, and deletes itself within about a month.

Service providers

To produce a verdict, the content you share is processed by:

  • Clerk — sign-in and account management.
  • Cloudflare — hosting, caching, and anonymized service metrics.
  • Apify — reading the public post you shared.
  • OpenAI — reading screenshots and transcribing video audio.
  • Anthropic — claim analysis and verdict generation.
  • Tavily — web search for evidence.

Each provider receives only what it needs to perform its step. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Service metrics

We record minimal, pseudonymized service metrics (verdict label, cache hit or miss, processing time, and a one-way hash of the account id) to keep the service healthy. These cannot be used to read your checks.

Your choices and deletion

Settings → Delete Account permanently deletes your Verum account with our sign-in provider and clears the app's history on your device. This cannot be undone. Notifications are optional and controlled in iOS Settings.

Children

Verdict is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update this page and note it in the app's release notes.
